About Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado

DRC, a designated 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization, is not a shelter. We are a group of volunteers who work with rescued dogs by fostering them in our own homes whenever possible; hence treating them the same as one of our own. We will use a kennel or day care if necessary to save a dog, but that dog will move to a foster home as soon as possible. All costs associated with the care of our dogs come from adoption donations and from the generosity of donors. We provide vaccinations, spaying/neutering, socialization and training of these dogs until a permanent home can be found. Our number one commitment is to the Dalmatians and Dalmatian Wannabes that come our way. We carefully screen all applicants and do home visits to assure each dog is placed in the best home for him/her and he/she is the best companion for that home.

Meet Millie the Mill dog, who lived seven years in a lonely, outdoor breeding kennel, only knowing someone dropping food in a bowl and cleaning some. Having pups that are taken early and sold to the big city pet shops. What a horrible life Millie once had! Although she had a rough start in life, Millie is really enjoying her freedom now! Millie is spayed, up to date on all of her shots and heart worm negative. Although she is quite petite at just 42 lbs, she certainly makes up for it in personality! Given her previous situation she tends to be a bit shy around people she hasn't met. However, once she gets to know you and builds trust, she becomes the best cuddling partner ever! She enjoys going for walks and even the occasional jog but can be a little timid on the leash when near loud traffic. That being said, she is just as content to snuggle up on the couch and relish in some personal attention! At night she has been spoiled and gets to sleep at the end of her foster mom's bed but also is crate trained and is used to being in her crate when her family is out running errands. Millie has done extremely well with her foster brother and seems to really thrive when having a buddy to play with and learn from. She is even discovering how much fun toys are and has been known to swipe her foster brother's ball and bone from time to time! She has been around three young children in her foster home and does well with them as long as they are not screaming and getting right in her face. When she feels a little scared or intimidated she has been known to let out a little growl but has never acted out past that. With patience, consistency and a lot of love, Millie will continue to blossom in the right home! Miss Millie is currently in Colorado Springs.
