Lacey

Lacey is a 4 year old Dalmatian that Debbie Medow adopted in May, 2000. Lacey had been abandoned at an area shelter and subsequently fostered through Dalmatian Rescue for two weeks. From what little history Debbie knew, Lacey was an outdoor dog with little to no attention paid to her. In her foster home, Lacey cowered whenever a hand was raised and was very submissive, suggesting that she had been abused.

Nevertheless, Lacey had a sweet temperament and Debbie thought she would be a good match in her home life.

Debbie's two year old son Matthew actually became the deciding factor for adopting Lacey. Only if the two of them got along would Lacey work out in their home. The first meeting did not go well, and  Debbie was hesitant about adopting her. But after bringing Lacey to their home environment, Lacey and Matthew acted as if they had been "buds" all their lives! Debbie notes, "They are the same height and Lacey is a kisser, so Matthew gets his face washed quite often!" They share food and toys with each other and Matthew has taken to Lacey's dog crate and dog door better than Lacey!
