We have 3 older dogs that are all rescue animals, so when we started looking to find what kind of dog we might want when their "time" came we decided on a Dalmatian. My husband is a retired firefighter and had never owned one, so he thought it would be really great. I ended up contacting Beth and we spoke several times on the phone. She told us about a Dalmatian puppy that had been rescued out of state. We weren't sure we were ready to add yet another dog to our menagerie, but the more we heard, the more we wanted to adopt this little frightened girl. My husband drove to pick her up and by the time he drove her back home, he was hooked! It was about a four hour drive, so she had plenty of time to work her charm on him. Our other dogs were so sweet with her and before long they were all best friends. |

Our Dalmatian's name is Jasmine, but we
call her Jazzy Lu...she also answers to Lucy. She has little spots
on her that are shaped like hearts and a tiny white heart on the tip of
her left ear. She has quite a personality and loves to play.
She loves the little rope toys we get her and when she shreds them and
we get another she runs around showing it off. When we give all
the dogs chewies, she usually ends up with all of them and we have to
chase her around so the others get their share. In spite of that
she has been good for my older dogs and she plays with them with her
ropes. They actually lay on the floor and hold one end while she
plays, but she thinks they are playing too. We have a
Newfoundland, a St. Bernard and a poodle that are all her buddies. The biggest problem we have with her is that she is a "bed hog". She likes to sleep in between us and she starts out laying long ways. By the end of the night she is sideways and stretching. We bought her a little dog bed which she uses all day long, however, the night time means she sleeps on the big bed. Thank heaven our other dogs have decided to still sleep on the floor! I am enclosing a picture of her and I am sure you will see how she manages to wrap us around her little paw. Terry and Terri Ellen |
