Duke

We browse the web site on a weekly basis, and one day I "spotted" the most adorable Dalmatian. We were not planning to add another Dal to our life as we were content with Cisco and Perdita, but Duke was not going to let go of our hearts. I spoke to Beth and was told it would be hard to get him because the Denver shelter did not want to release him to Dal Rescue. That did not stop us; I drove to Denver myself and picked him up. When Duke came into the room and ran into my lap, he was mine forever. Duke was painfully thin, every bone and joint could be seen in his precious body, but he still showed such a sweet easy going spirit. Now, Duke is 100% changed - he has filled out to 65lbs, and when he stands up to look out the living room window he stands 5ft tall. Duke is confident, loyal, funny, verbal, sweet, and very cuddly. He thinks he is a little dog in big dog's body.

Duke and Cisco are the same age and are as close as littermates. They wrestle every night, play hide and seek with each others' toys, play tug of war with each others' collars and then settle down, curl up together and sleep. Perdita thinks "The boys" are obnoxious; she is 6yrs old compared to their 1yr old puppy behavior. Duke's qualities please us more and more each day. He was named "Duke" because he reminds us so much of the comic strip dog "Marmaduke".

Our heart filled thanks go out to Dalmatian Rescue for all they do to bring such happiness and joy - and Spots - to our lives!

Love, Andy, Beth, Patrick, Kara and Perdita, Cisco, and Duke
