Darla

Darla was originally owned by a family who moved and couldn't take her. She was then left with a neighbor who after a bit couldn't keep her either. She was sent to the shelter but no one wanted her & finally CO. Dal Rescue saved her! Poor Darla then was fostered for a few months. Poor Darla didn't know where she belonged. When we adopted her she seemed so scared and untrusting. Now she is the boss of the house.

We are always being complimented on how sweet and loving Darla is. People are often surprised at how mellow she is compared to what they expect from a Dalmatian. Darla is great with people of all ages and just loves to crawl into a bed with a human to snuggle. We are looking into doing therapy work with her.

Darla loves to boss Bartleby, our other Dalmatian, around & steal his toys. Darla is a big groaner when we tuck her into bed at night & she always sleeps under her fleece blankets. She will softly groom her stuffed toys with her front teeth. And she plays rope loud with lots of intimidating barks. Darla loves to go to the dog park... she loves to splash at the water's edge, but won't swim. She has one favorite mud puddle that we have to avoid otherwise she ends up being a black Dalmatian! Darla always cries in the car, but its because she is so excited to see where we are going & she just can't contain herself. In September we took Darla & Bartleby, on a very long road trip... we drove to New York. My husband and I were married there on a private beach in Long Island. Darla wore a dress collar with a veil that matched mine and Bartleby wore a tux. Both costumes were made by my mother in law. The two of them absolutely loved the beach... running in the sand, splashing in the waves, and chasing bunnies in the fields. Thanks for such a lovely complement to Bartleby and our new life.
