Sonny
(aka "Pongo")

Q: What's white & black with smiles all over?
A: Our Dalmatian Rescue dog, Sonny!

I had been on the Dal Rescue 'radar screen' for a couple of years, thinking about taking a second dog, not very committed until I came across "Pongo's" bio early in 2003. He was abandoned after a hit and run accident and was living at the animal hospital. Dal Rescue was in need of a foster home. That was all I needed to spring into action. I unilaterally decided this was something I wanted to do - - even though my husband was lukewarm about the idea. But after being with us for about a week, those soulful eyes, waggy tail and smile softened my husband's heart. "We" had prevailed. Sonny, as he is now known, is the newest member of our family.

He is a wonderful dog: gets along with our other dog, Missy, he is gentle enough on the leash to allow my 7 year old to walk him and yet at times he plays like a puppy. And oh, those smiles! Although I don't have a picture of him smiling, anyone with a smiling Dal knows what I'm talking about. It not only warms your heart but makes you laugh at the same time!

Thanks again to Dalmatian Rescue...you are doing such great work that not only benefits the Dalmatians, but their humans as well. We wish you all much continued success.

(P.S. - If anyone out there is inspired by this or any Happy Ending story, get off your butt and just GO FOR IT! The love you get back from your Dal is easily 10x what you give him. I would also encourage you to help in any other way if adoption is not for you. -J. Wagner)
