Tracy
came to us on November 17th, 2006 from Colorado to Duluth Minnesota.
A friend of ours was in Colorado on business and came across Tracy,
who at the time, needed a home. He called me at work to tell me that
he thought Tracy would be the perfect dog for me, and if I wanted her,
he would be willing to bring her to Minnesota for me. I thought on
it for less than 24 hours, and decided that Tracy was the dog for me.
I had to wait approximately 10 days before I decided I wanted her until
the day she arrived. My family and I waited like anxious first time
parents, and made a family trip to petco to shop for her arrival.
We
had fun spending lots of money. When she finally arrived, she was more
beautiful than the picture I saw of her, and she was so sweet and precious.
She just showered us with kisses. For the first week, so seemed quite
insecure, but so good. Now, we are bonding quite well, and she seems
so happy. She is acting like real dog now- eating and drinking well,
playing, barking, begging, getting into things, sleeping well etc.
My friends at work gave me a suprise mini dog shower - with toys for
Tracy to play with. She loves them and we have fun playing together.
She loves to ride in the car and travels very well. She runs lots of
errands with dad. She is not thrilled with winter, but she has certainly
acclamated as if she were a true Minnesotan. We got a heat wave and
now it is in the 20's, and she is thrilled to play outside again. (She
absolutely will not wear the dog boots I bought her, but I'm not worried,
our previous dog wouldn't either!) I thank God for Tracy, every day
she makes us laugh and smile, and fills a void. We are blessed to have
her.

Update on Tracy (July 11, 2008)
Tracy has lived with me for 1-1/2 years now and I wouldn't trade her for the world! Like many of the rescue Dals I have read about, she was also very depressed, wouldn't eat, play or interact for about a month after she came to me. Now, it is like we have lived together our whole lives and she is the most pampered, loved dog ever. She eats plenty now - and is a "big" girl, so she is on the weight control formula dog food! Now that summer has arrived, she plays outside much more and has slimmed down nicely! (Wish that would work for me!)
Her favorite thing in the whole world is to hunt chipmunks in our large yard and send them to their demise. I have sent many to their graves in the woods! "Grandpa" (my dad) dogsits for Tracy during the day while I am at work (he has a home office), and they are best buds! Tracy loves to ride in the truck with dad and she is so heavy that the seat belt alarms go off non-stop. So my dad simply puts the seat belt on her! She also loves to cuddle and sleep in my bed! I love it when she smiles when I come home!
Thank you Dalmatian Rescue for helping to place Travy in our home! We love her as our own child!
