Between us and our other Dalmatian Yasmine, who recently passed this week, Gypsy was overcome with love, affection and acceptance. Her eyes brightened up, her smile returned, and small bouts of excitement and elation showed her regaining confidence that she has worth and love.
Gypsy is very loyal and loving and fiercely protective over our family. She enjoys regular romps at the dog park, not so much interested in interacting with the other furry pals but more just to be out walking with the family; she has definitely become a part of the pack.
Gypsy still shows a little uncertainty with what she is or isn't allowed to do, but she has finally claimed her spot on the bed. One of her favorite things is to ride in the car, doesn't matter where we're going if the door opens she's like a bullet to the backseat ready to ride. One day as we were unloading groceries from the car, we noticed Gypsy had gone missing, we searched the house, the yard, high and low, only to find she had snuck into the car when we were carrying groceries in and was patiently waiting in the front seat for us to take her for a ride.
At any given time whether I'm in the office or studio, or just sitting in the family room Gypsy is laying at my feet, content to be my shadow and I am content to have her companionship. Each day our bond grows stronger and I see more confidence in her beautiful little brown eyes. And after a good teeth cleaning at the vet the bad doggie breath is gone and she loves to show off her pearly white puppy teeth.
With the recent loss of my older Dalmatian, Gypsy seems to have picked up a few of Yasmine's old habits, finding coffee splatters on the table where she figured I wouldn't mind sharing my morning coffee. When I hug her she wraps her paw around my side and hugs me back. She picked up talking as well, she makes grumbles and sighs that I find comfort in because it feels as if part of Yasmine is still with her. We're very thankful to have Gypsy as a family member, she fills that space in our hearts that only a loving spotted companion can. Always eager to help you let the bad day you just had roll of your back in her smiles. Thank You Dalmatian Rescue, Thank You to Janice who fostered her, Thank You to Beth White who got us connected, and Thank You to Karl who chipped her and visited our home. My family and I are grateful to all of you for bringing us together.
