Hondo
(aka Brady)

John, Karen & Hondo

My little girl Dalmatian passed away this spring unexpectedly. I had her since I was a teenager and I was so lost without my buddy. Six weeks later I saw Hondo online and instantly inquired about him. I left on a trip for the weekend and when I got back we started the adoption process. I felt like a kid right before Christmas!

I adopted Hondo on June 15, 2008. He was on his way from Texas to Colorado when I met with his transporters, Jim and Patsy Perkins, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Hondo jumped out of the truck to say hello. He was friendly and a big boy in need of a weight loss program! After lunch we loaded up and Hondo was on his way to his new forever home. He was quiet on the ride home. As soon as we got there, he was greeted by friends and family and we went on a short walk. He listened well, but was a bit shy. We have been walking every day since then and Hondo has lost 10 pounds and counting in his first month here in Colorado. On July 13, 2008 Hondo went for his first ski and jeep tour. We hiked and rode all over the San Juan Mountains (our backyard in Silverton, CO). Hondo loved to roll in and eat the snow and he tried to take his Doggles off every chance he got. I think it's the first time he had seen snow, being he was from Texas.

Don't eat the yellow snow, boy!

Hondo has come a long way in his month with me. It took about five days before Hondo knew he was home. He now wags his tail all the time, eats treats and follows me around everywhere, just like my shadow. He stands between my legs while I make his food, races me back to bed in the morning for his 'Hondo sandwich cuddle time' and goes everywhere with me. If he's not with me, he is riding around with John to all the job sites.

Hondo is mellow, listens well loves kids, dogs and people. Hondo is the perfect match to add in our lives. Thank you Beth, Jim and Patsy for all your help in getting this special boy to us!

Thanks!!!
