Cici

Cici

We got Cici in late 2009 and what a blessing for her and us both. Our wonderful little girl came with a lot of aggression issues and lack of training. Its been a wonderful experience to give her a new outlook on life. I love researching and learning new things and Cici has taught me a lot. We learned about classical and operant conditioning, which I believe any rescue dog owner should read up on. These great animals are often given up because they caused their previous owners problems. I just want to note it is never the dog's fault but the owner's misunderstanding. Dogs speak in silence and give calming cues and its up to owners to know about these behaviors and be willing to spend loads of time training their dogs. They don't magically grow up perfect but instead take our lead. So lead them with patience and understanding and structure.

Cici has been so wonderful during her time with us. What a stoic being she is. She lounges with us on the couch, loves to run alongside me while bike riding, and occasionally she lets my daughter dress her up in a crown and cape and be a princess. Such a calm demeanor around the house and so respectful. But forget about all that the second you play tug of war...she's in it to win it!

She has learned so much control since being here including how to control the instinct to eat the cat...at least as long as they avoid each other. She is great on walks now and we are classically conditioning her to not lunge on leash at other dogs, progress is slow but there is progress! Its a slow process and we will be sure to keep pace and keep her on the path to peace. She loves to learn and is so eager to please us. I never saw any dog go crazier for a squeaky toy than her! She keeps us laughing! Thanks to Beth for helping us get her to Arizona!
