Pinto
(aka Dude)

Pinto at the shelter

Hi, my name is Pinto formerly known as Dude. My tale starts in California. Then I got picked up in Durango, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico as a stray. For some reason I was just always on the run. I was adopted and surrendered in Albuquerque and I waived the spotted White (pun intended) flag. I figured I was destined to life in a shelter where I suffered from a food allergy and two bad teeth.

Fortunately, Ms. Beth posted my smiling face on Dal Rescue. My new Dad saw my picture and the rest is tail wagging history. My new family drove all the way from Illinois to New Mexico to pick me up. We drove back through Kansas that was home to another famous dog, Toto. Fortunately there were no tornadoes. Did you see that scary movie?

When we got home Dad and Mom re-registered my ID chip and discovered my first name, Pinto. At that point I knew this was the real meal, I mean deal. So, now I have a great new home in northern IL. I am eating bowls of the right food and treats (no corn) and my teeth are fixed. I have a huge wooded yard to explore with all kinds of woodland animal tracks to sniff. I have learned my new world and don’t explore beyond my limits. Oh and I have a girlfriend, Miss Abby, a black and white English Setter, who lives two houses down. I knew I liked her as soon as I spotted her. Imagine the puppies we might have had!

I am totally devoted to my Dad who spoils me rotten. He says we are best buddies. I am very obedient and don’t cause any trouble. We go for long walks every day and also go for truck rides too! I am a very affectionate snuggle boy. I only bark when I am happy and ready for some food in my bowl. I love to snuggle on the couch with my Dad and Mom. Every night we make a big nest with fleece blankets.

I told Dad to give a big shout out to Ms. Karen who rescued me from the shelter in Albuquerque and my buddies Boswell and Tal for sharing their home with me until my family could get me. Ms Karen started the loving care I needed. Look at Byron and Boswell’s new beginnings tale in 2008.

Six months have gone by and I am very happy here. Dad says we might move to New Mexico one day. He says we will be together forever. Dad says he couldn’t have asked for a better boy. That always makes my tail wag!

Ok, I am ready for a nap.

Big doggie kisses and treats to all who helped me…
