Scooby

Scooby

In late June we lost our beloved Abby, our third Dalmatian, to old age. In the last three years we had to accept the loss of Lucy (14), Ricky (12) and Abby (12) to old age and bad hips that caused great pain. Since Maggie and I are empty nesters we considered not getting another dog. Well after two to three days we found ourselves on the Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado web site. Since we live in Durango, Scooby caught our eye since Kelly and Jim were foster parents for him in Cortez, just a few miles west of Durango. After a couple of emails and phone calls, we hooked up with Kelly and she suggested that she bring Scooby over to visit and check out our home and yard. Needless to say Scooby was a hit the moment he arrived. He is the perfect companion for both Maggie and I. We both love to walk in the morning to start the day. Scooby loves to walk and enjoy the beautiful mornings here in Durango also. He loves his toys, especially the ones that squeak. He chases a ball and brings it back to you and loves to be petted and brushed. He stays in the yard and comes when called without fail. He has adjusted to his new home very well and we could not be more pleased to have Scooby as our companion.

I cannot say enough about Kelly and Jim who took care of Scooby for three months prior to his adoption. They worked hard with him and trained him to stay off the furniture, socialize with other dogs and get plenty of exercise. We greatly appreciate those that take in rescue Dalmatians so that they can find a good home with a family.
