Jewel

Two is company, three is a crowd….but it is a fun crowd!  In May 2003 I adopted Sampson to join my older female, Perdi.  This September (2004) I had this crazy idea to get yet another Dal, what was I thinking?  But, as you know, you can’t visit Dal Rescue’s website without wanting to take at least one home, if not them all!  Enter Jewel, 4 yrs old and very small for a Dal, only 45 lbs, all muscle and energy, I just had to have her.

It has not been all fun and sunshine though as the older dogs, set in their couch-potato ways, weren’t real pleased with this ball of energy that came whizzing into our lives.  Over time we are all learning to live together.

Jewel is too much fun, and so stinkin’ cute!  She has a strange hobby of chasing birds, well, not the birds so much as their shadows.  Jewel stares at the ground until she sees the shadow of a bird flying overheard, and she chases the shadows!  Needless to say I installed a few more bird feeders to keep Jewel busy, this can go on for several hours a day, but only on sunny days, overcast days prove to be quite boring…

She gets excited at meal time and howls for her food when I am getting it ready, if I am late with a meal I hear about it all right.

We have big dog beds for the other 2 dogs so when Jewel finally curls up for some shut-eye she looks so tiny and sweet.  She truly is a Jewel!
