Lisa

After Sarah (my first Dal gal) died, it took me almost a year to think of getting another one. Sarah was sooo special! Even though she wasn't deaf, I had trained her to respond to hand signals. She was gentle and really liked children. We were a team, teaching kids one-on-one wherever we went not to pet strange dogs without permission, to let them sniff your hand first and so on.

Lisa is one of a litter of eight born in Texas. She was the result of a brother-sister accidental breeding. At four weeks, Beth got wind of the news, contacted the owner and determined that the litter needed to be put in rescue status. Judy Pogue in Kansas became the foster mom for the whole litter, bless her heart!   I saw the litter posted on the website, but didn't follow up right away. When I went back later, they were gone! I called Beth in a panic and she said one female was left, which is what I wanted. I wanna tell ya, Beth CARES where these Dals go! She had a local breeder check out the yard and house; she called the referral I put on the on-line application. And I'm glad she did. That kind of time and effort put in means this special breed has a higher chance of finding a "forever home".

After a flurry of phone calls and e-mails, my husband and I went down to Kansas to meet Judy and Elise. Judy had given the puppies names starting with the letters A to H. We met Elise and sat in Judy's living room for over an hour with Elise dozing peacefully between us. We brought her home to North Platte, Nebraska through a snow storm the next day. See, there's Randy holding Lisa, and Lisa and I on the porch of her new home.
