Pinky

A little more than a year ago I called an ad in the Coloradoan to save an elderly pet. I had been toying with getting a companion for Toby my 13yr old wire haired fox terrier and was loath to see an elderly pet put down ...and did not want too much competition for the old guy. As it happened, that particular dog found a wonderful home with the people who transported him.

Putting it down to fate ...I forgot all about it!  Until.......

Pretty much exactly one year ago today, and about three weeks after we initially spoke. I was called by Beth of the Dalmatian Rescue and offered another Dalmatian aged approx 9yrs old as a foster case. My husband collected her the following evening, from the very kind  Beth who had collected her from the shelter in Denver where she was due be put to sleep. Pinky was a  smallish fat Dalmatian, with arthritis in her back leg and a slight problem with one eye, she was also very nervous and appeared to have nightmares when she slept.

This is Pinky's first birthday with us. The eye is now completely repaired and as Pinky eats four small meals a day ....(to tie in with Toby who had health problems!) and has lost about  10lbs, to become a very sleek and healthy Dal. As Pinky runs in large circles for the pure fun of it, you would never guess now that she had arthritis.  The reason the story is so late in coming in is that previously I felt we were happy but Pinky was not.  This changed about the 7/8th months ago and Pinky is now a firm and happy member of the Wright household. I am sure that Pinky would not change us now and in the last 2 months Pinky and Toby appear to have also become closer.
