Spotty came into our lives in September of
2005. We weren't looking for another dog, already having 2 dogs, 2
cats, and 2 kids under the age of 3 1/2. We found each other at a
garage sale sponsored by our church. She was a stray that was
hanging out, chasing people away from the sale!! So I decided to
take her home, thinking that her owners would probably come looking for
her. Well, days went by and nothing. We put an ad in the
paper; nothing. So I then contacted Dalmatian Rescue for help.
Beth gave me some wonderful information and we tried everything to find
Spotty's owners. She turned out to be microchipped, but the
owner's had moved and left her behind. She had been adopted out of
an animal shelter in Denver, and we found her in Peyton. So she
had traveled a long ways. We still kept our hopes up that maybe
someone would claim her, but a month went by and nothing. At this
point we found out she was very well behaved in the house, got along
fairly well with our other dogs, ignored the cats, and most importantly
was excellent with the kids. It was after about 6 weeks, that
we decided to make her part of our family. I never thought that I
would have a Dalmatian as part of our family, but she has been
wonderful. She enjoys her daily walks, laying in the sun, mealtime
(the most important!), and bed time. Thanks Beth and Dalmatian
Rescue for all your help with Spotty!!
