Doc

After having to put down one of my dalmatians, I hadn't planned on getting another dog until my other dal. had passed. I don't know why I did a Google search on dalmatian rescue, but I did. The link for Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado immediately caught my eye, since I live "close" in Montana.

I was randomly clicking on the names of the dogs they had listed, paying particular attention to older dogs, since I know they are always harder to adopt. I am not particularly leary of adopting an older dog, since my current dalmatian is 17yrs old. When I clicked on "Doc," a 9 yr old, I immediately fell in love. I arranged to pick him up in Douglas, WY, over President's Day weekend, 2007.

After meeting with his adoptive mom for awhile and allowing him to meet Backdraft, it was decided that we'd go ahead with the adoption. On the drive home, Doc howled and whined the whole trip. Nothing we could do would calm him down. When we got home, he marked in the house 5 times.

Doc has his faults. He is obstinate and often barks when we don't want him to do so, usually when someone comes to the door. However, since his arrival, he has calmed down and made so much progress. He stays around the property when we leave the yard gates open. He behaves quite well when walked off-leash in one of our many nature areas. He is crate trained.

All and all, he's just a teenager who likes to test his boundries, but learns well what's expected of him.

I highly recommend DRoC.
