Angel

My Angel

Angel was a true angel. She came to Dalmatian Rescue as a stray from Pikes Peak Humane Society in October 2009. She was very shy, never smiled and always kept her head down. She looked tired and in pain. Her hips really bothered her (that's why someone probably just dumped her at the shelter). Angel started on medication for her hips, which seemed to help her most of the time. She had a couple of treatments at the chiropractor and a treatment of acupuncture. The acupuncture seemed to work the best for her, but she was never out of complete pain. When she would sit down it would take a few minutes for her to find the right sitting position. She also has some dental work done as she ate real gingerly. Angel loved to eat and she was always hungry. Her favorite food was mac and cheese, she also loved boiled turkey, and dog treats of any kind! Angel went on short walks as she tired easily. She was friendly to every person and dog (and cat) she met. I never heard her growl and she only barked a few times. Her favorite playmate was Bandit (a mutt who belonged to a friend). She would run around the yard and they would play together. Her tail would even wag. She did not wag her tail much. Angel loved to rest her head on my lap when we sat on the floor or couch. She loved to have her whole body rubbed. Her head was always a very tender area so I would gently rub her eyes, ears, whatever she would let me touch. Angel also loved sitting and looking at herself in the mirror (she knew she was beautiful). She also would sit at the back screen door and just stare outside. She also loved sleeping in the back of the car when she went riding.

Even though Angel was with Dalmatian Rescue for only nine months, she became part of a family. Radar (her Dal brother) and I miss her very, very much. We know she is now up in heaven running free with all the Dals that have passed before her. She died in her sleep June 26th in the evening. Finally, she had a peaceful look on her face; she did not look in pain. I am so thankful she passed at home, a place she was comfortable. Angel was truly an angel.
