Dakota entered foster care way back on April 24, 2004. We have no idea why such a cool dude as Dakota never found a forever home in nearly four years in foster. Sure he was a senior, chronologically, but he had the spunk and spirit of a teenager. His life was one of many trials and he sailed through them all, including being a homeless dog living in a car. Unlike many dogs Dakota even liked to take a baths! In late January, 2008 Dakota was diagnosed with a diseased spleen. The vets said that given his age and failing health he would most likely not survive the extensive surgery and it was decided that rather than put him through that not knowing what his quality of life might be afterward (if he did make it) to set him free from the pain now plaguing his aging body. On February 12, 2008 Dakota was released from the pain and went to play with all the other foster dogs waiting at The Rainbow Bridge. He is missed by his foster parents and all of us here at Dalmatian Rescue who got to know him.
