March 2011

Hap joined our rescue family in August 2010. He was pulled from a high kill shelter in Texas on his very last day. We weren't sure if we could get him out but to our luck he was sprung from doggie jail and hopped in a car and made his way to Colorado. He was a sad sight when first arriving, skinny, malnourished, missing all his front teeth and had been de-barked. It was very evident he was badly neglected and had been abused. To add to his issues, he was heartworm positive. But with all these obstacles his tail never stopped wagging. He knew he made it through the rough times and was finally in a safe and loving place. He fit right in with his foster buddies and carved a special place in his foster mom and dad's heart. We got him happy and healthy again, treated his heartworms; however he took a turn for the worse and started to go into congestive heart failure. We pulled out all the stops for this kid but it was not meant to be. He lived with us for eight months and it was a pleasure to get to know him and share our home with him. He brought a smile to your face and was never, ever in a bad mood. He was truly a happy dog and he will be missed.
