Never to Be Forgotten with All My Love

For five years now I have volunteered for Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado and have helped 51 Dalmatians to a better life. Ariel was my fifth foster. She had gone from foster home to being adotped five times before we rescued her. Ariel was always scared of being moved again. She also had some hip problems and was in pain every now and then. That's when she asked me to ask Beth if she could make this her forever home. "But of course," said Beth! Ariel was born 9/9/1999 and died 9/9/2009.

Ariel has seen many dogs go through her home. Every dog knew she was the "Queen" in this house. Through the years she felt safe and knew it was her home. Ariel was very good on not needing a leash and she always stayed very close for me. She also loved to "pounce play" and run back and forth around me. She loved the water at Chatfield. She would go in and play in shallow water. Ariel was abused by a male, we feel sure, and hated men in baseball caps. Ariel's "brother", Radar, was with her for everything. They were the head dogs here. (Radar knew Ariel was #1!) Radar and I really miss Ariel a lot. I can't wait to see her in the end, with all the other Dals.

I think in the last two weeks of her life she had a stroke or seizure. The left side of her body and face dropped and she could not open her left eye. She was also losing her hearing and eyesight. But, she still loved food. When she started having problems controlling her urine and bowels, I knew it was time to send her to Doggie Heaven. Radar and I were with Ariel when she passed on. Her ashes will be with a lot of other dog's ashes up on Dalmatian Hill in Fort Collins. Ariel was very happy in her forever home. She was a one of a kind Dalmatian and forever I will love and miss Ariel.
