Oliver came to live with us from Kansas. A very nice truck driver brought him from a no-kill shelter where he had been left for more than a year after being a family pet for all of his life. At 10 years of age, Oliver suffered from advanced heartworm and a botched neutering surgery. He completed the treatments for heartworm, but never fully recovered liver function. After getting some aquatic physical therapy to help him recover from the year of being in a cage he spent a wonderful summer playing with our new puppies (see picture - below - with Dusty), and enjoying the family in the yard. But most of his energy was focused on being a companion to my mom who lives with me. Being senior citizens together seemed to agree with them both and he was seldom far from her side (see picture - above - in yard, right by her side). He was all that is best in Dalmatians – loyal, faithful, and comical. He was with us far to short of a time, but brought us tremondous love and joy. If only people could forgive and love again as easily as dogs. Beth Bennett |
